About Barbour

Founded in 1894 in South Shields, in the North East of England, Barbour has been a family business for five generations. The brand is still based in the same region, where its iconic Bedale and Beaufort wax jackets are handcrafted in the Simonside factory. Jackets are also repaired, re-waxed and refurbished there, ensuring they last a lifetime.

Barbour is known for stylish, functional clothing for men, women, children and dogs, inspired by the British countryside. In addition to their famous jackets, the collection includes shirts, trousers, knitwear, dresses, accessories and footwear. Barbour International, which originated from the brand's motorcycle history, grew into an independent label with its own identity in 2013.

Are your products made from 100% natural materials?

The yarns of our brands are carefully selected for their quality, origin, and sustainability. This results in knitwear that breathes, insulates, and retains its shape and beauty, season after season. No synthetic fibers are used, only the natural softness and warmth of real wool, pure nature, as it should be.

Is your wool mulesing free?

We collaborate with reliable European brands and suppliers who prioritize the welfare of their animals. The wool comes from small-scale farms where sheep are cared for and no painful procedures take place. This way, you can count on animal-friendly, fair, and high-quality wool, made with respect for people, animals, and nature.

Do you guys pill your items?

Our knitwear is made from high-quality A-grade wool yarns with extra-long fibers, which keeps pilling to a minimum. With natural wool, slight pilling can sometimes occur; you can easily remove this with a wool comb or depiller. After one or two treatments, the surface will remain beautiful and smooth for a long time.

How do I keep my knitwear looking its best?

Wash wool carefully by hand in cold water or choose a suitable wool program in the washing machine (not every machine has this). Let the clothing dry flat and store it folded to maintain its shape.

What if my size or the product I want is out of stock?

What is your return policy?
