Is your wool mulesing free?

We work with reliable European brands and suppliers who prioritize the welfare of their animals. The wool comes from small-scale farms where sheep are kept with care and no painful procedures take place. This way, you can count on animal-friendly, fair, and high-quality wool, made with respect for people, animals, and nature.

Do you guys pill your items?

Harley uses premium, A-grade wool yarns with extra-long fibres.

Pilling is a normal and natural process for wool. The difference, however, lies in the quality of the yarns used.

With knitwear made from high-quality A-grade wool yarns, featuring long and strong fibres, light pilling may occur initially. The significant advantage of this quality is that the pills will diminish over time. By gently removing them a few times with a wool comb or defuzzer, the surface of the jumper stabilises and remains beautiful for an exceptionally long time.

As a result, the garment not only maintains its appearance but also lasts considerably longer.

With lower quality yarns, this is different. Shorter fibres (as with C-grade) detach more easily and continue to form new pills, even after you've removed them. This makes the material look less cared for more quickly and also causes it to wear out faster.

How do I keep my knitwear looking its best?

Not every washing machine has a wool program of the same quality, which means hand washing often remains the safest and best choice. Use cold water and handle the garment gently to protect the fibres.

In many cases, however, washing is not even necessary. Wool naturally has a self-cleaning effect thanks to the lanolin it contains. By airing your item outdoors in fresh, cold air, odours are naturally neutralised.

If washing is necessary, always dry the garment flat and store it folded to maintain its shape.

Can I order an item when it's out of stock?

Harley of Scotland has limited production capacity, so it takes longer for stock to be replenished.
